Trailers – I had not heard of Alita before I saw this trailer. It looks like it may have possibilities. The fact that James Cameron is one of the writers gives the movie some credits. The synopsis (from IMDB):
An action-packed story of one young woman’s journey to discover the truth of who she is and her fight to change the world.
This will come out in July of 2018.
Trailers – The next installment of the Avengers comes to theaters in May 2018. This trailer is short (2:24) but this looks to be another good addition to the Marvel franchise. The synopsis (per IMDB):
The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
Something to look forward to in 2018.
Trailers – Netflix will air a new 10-episode series beginning in December called “Dark”. The dialog is in German with English subtitles. The synopsis:
The disappearance of two kids in the German small town of Winden opens abysses that turn the concept of time on its head. The question is not who has kidnapped the children… but when.
Though I don’t have Netflix, this does look interesting. The only downside is the subtitles. I am not a fan of subtitles.
Trailers – The science fiction movie “Singularity” opens later this month. Though this clip looks pretty good, it was only given a 5.5/10 rating on IMDB. The synopsis (from IMDB):
In 2020, Elias van Dorne (John Cusack), CEO of VA Industries, the world’s largest robotics company, introduces his most powerful invention–Kronos, a super computer designed to end all wars. When Kronos goes online, it quickly determines that mankind, itself, is the biggest threat to world peace and launches a worldwide robot attack to rid the world of the “infection” of man. Ninety-seven years later, a small band of humans remain alive but on the run from the robot army. A teenage boy, Andrew (Julian Schaffner) and a teenage girl, Calia (Jeannine Wacker), form an unlikely alliance to reach a new world, where it is rumored mankind exists without fear of robot persecution. But does this world actually exist? And will they live long enough to find out?
Trailers – A second trailer for “Downsizing” has been released (see first trailer). Synopsis:
A social satire in which a guy realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself.
Not sure about this. It has a SciFi aspect because of the ‘downsizing’ ability, but really it does not seem to focus much on science. The rating in IMDB is 6.1/10. See it for your self starting December 22.
Trailers – This very short (0:55) trailer “Awake” was just released for “The Last Jedi”. As you would expect it raised more questions than it answers. Much will be answered when the movie opens on December 15th.
Trailers – This is a dark science fiction thriller. The main character is sent on a 100 day solo mission to hold a remote outpost. The synopsis (from IMDB):
An aggressive race of aliens took over Planet Earth and humanity’s at its end, living in giant bunkers below ground. Young Military rookie S.U.M.1 (Iwan Rheon) is sent to the surface to save a group of unprotected survivors.
I am not sure about this film. It may be a little too dark. It is not promising that the rating on IMDB for the film is only 5.2. The movie is scheduled for limited theatrical release on December 1 and VOD.
Trailers – The movie “Black Panther ” will open in February of 2018. The synopsis:
T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
We saw this character first in the 2016 Marvel movie “Captain America: Civil War”. This will be his own movie. From the trailer it looks good, but we will have to wait until February to know for sure.
Trailers – So I never saw the original Lazer Team (rated 5.6 on IMDB). This trailer for “Lazer Team 2” looks a bit silly, but it might be a fun movie to watch. While there will be a short theatrical release in mid November, most will catch this film on YouTube. The synopsis:
After Woody (Gavin Free) goes missing working on secret, alien research, scientist Maggie Wittington (Nichole Bloom) must recruit the former members of Lazer Team (Burnie Burns, Colton Dunn, Michael Jones) to join her in rescuing their lost friend. It’s up to Maggie to bring the Lazer Team back together and rescue Woody.
This looks to be more comedy that thriller scifi.
Trailers – I was a fan of The X-Files when it originally aired (1993-2002), and it was generally well received with 8.7/10 on IMDB. The synopsis:
The secret lies in the X-FILES folder. Find out the truth when the X-FILES returns all-new in 2018 on FOX.
This looks interesting and the answers, or at least the questions, are always found in the X-FILES Folder. I’ll be looking for this 10-episode installment in the series sometime in 2018.
