USA, Nevada, Henderson – Kneaders Bakery & Cafe

KB-4 MG_3379

(See my other Dessert related posts) – One of the places we visited the last time in Nevada was a Kneaders Bakery & Cafe location. The one we tried is located at 11271 Eastern Avenue, Henderson, NV 89052. This is a chain with 47 locations at the time I write this spread across the states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Texas, and Utah.

Kneaders began in Orem, Utah in 1997. From baking bread, their menu expanded. Now it includes sandwiches, soups, salads, and pastries.

They serve breakfast items including their signature Chunky Cinamon French Toast.

Of course, we were only looking at the pastries the day we visited. I know we tried the Cinamon Rolls and cookies. These were good. Kneaders does have a wide variety and it is a large cafe. The one we visited was busy.

On the whole, we enjoyed Kneaders. It is a chain though and the items we found at small independent bakeries like Gama Mexican Bakery, Le Paris Brest Cafe, and Chef Flemmings were better. That said, I would certainly visit a Kneaders again.

USA, Nevada, Henderson – Chef Flemmings Bake Shop

CFB-1 IMG_3105

(See my other Dessert related posts) – When we were in Nevada recently we visited Chef Flemmings Bake Shop. the bakery is located at 7 S Water St Suite B, Henderson, NV 89015. The bakery has been open in this location since 2008.

Chef Flemming has served as a pastry chef at nine high-end luxury hotels in Las Vegas. He also been a pastry instructor at the Art Institute in Las Vegas.

This bakery is “Inspired by our Danish heritage, our full-service retail bakery creates pastries and specialty cakes for our community.

We tried a few different items. From the case above we had a Cherry Chocolate Crumb cake (bottom second from left), a cinimon roll (middle row second from right), Blueberry muffin (bottom row far right), and a cheese danish. They were excellent!

We didn’t stop there though. We also had macaroon cookies (top shelf, second from left) and a whoopie pie aka moon pie (second shelf second from left). Again we enjoyed them all.

As you can see from the photos above they offer a variety of baked goods – pastries, cakes, cookies, and breads. You can check out their full menu. This is in downtown Henderson and only a few minutes drive from where we normally stay. I am sure we will be visiting it again on our next trip.

USA, Nevada, Henderson – Le Paris Brest Cafe

LPB-1 IMG_5389

In one day we had three great finds: Crêpe Expectations, Gama Mexican Bakery & Cakes, and Le Paris Brest Cafe. Not only did we visit them all for the first time on the same day, but they are within easy walking distance from one another. In fact, all three are just down from The Original Rolled Ice Cream.

Le Paris Brest Cafe is located at 9550 South Eastern Avenue, Suite 110, Henderson, NV 89123. They carry a wide variety of pastries and French baked goods.

The inside of the store is small with most seating outside.

We actually visited the bakery more than once during our stay in Nevada and tried several different items. From the case above (some items changed from day to day) we tried the Black Forest cake, Tiramisu Cake, and Chocolate Eclair.

From the case shown above, we tried the Ham & Cheese Croissant (croissant, butter, ham, & swiss cheese) and the Croque Monsieur (ham, swiss cheese, and bechamel sauce).  Needless to say, we loved every item that we tried.

I think we tried one or two other items as well. I think we visited the bakery three times. Beyond the baked goods, the location also has a variety of sandwiches, salads, crêpes, and beverages. You can check out their menu for a better idea of what is available.

This is definitely a place we will be returning to when in Nevada again.

USA, Nevada, Henderson – Hot n Juicy Crawfish

(Read my other Food related posts) – We recently drove through Henderson, NV on our 2019 Road Trip. My wife and her brother love Hot n Juicy Crawfish. I have been there three times now and I enjoy their fried shrimp. My wife and her brother prefer ordering mildly cajun season boiled shrimp by the pound and digging in with both hands.

While they operate several different locations (13 at the time I write this post), I have only visited the Henderson, NV site at 9560 S. Eastern Ave. Henderson, NV 89123.

As I mentioned before, I like their fried shrimp and their cajun fries.

My wife and her brother also tried the regular Calamari and enjoyed that as an appetizer.

We have all enjoyed being a Hot n Juicy customer. If you like seafood, particularly spicy seafood, you will want to give Hot n Juicy a try.

USA, Nevada, Henderson – Rodizio Grill

IMG_0755 2

(See my other Food posts) – I recently went with a group of the family to the Rodizio Grill in Henderson, NV. This is one location in a chain and it is a Brazilian Steakhouse or Churrascaria. The first restaurant in the chain opened in 1995. There are currently 21 locations in the chain, with a 22nd in development. Unfortunately, there are none in the Austin, TX area yet. The location we visited is located at 1300 W Sunset Rd, #2950, Henderson, NV 89014.

Like most Brazilian Steakhouses, the Rodizio Grill has an extensive salad bar, in addition, there are over a dozen rotisserie-grille meats & signature items served right at your table by ‘Rodizio gauchos’. You can view the extent of their selections with their online menu.

We all thought the food very good. TripAdvisor rates this restaurant as 4.5/5, while Yelp rates it at 4.5/5 also. You can choose to just eat at the salad bar ($19.99 for lunch, $21.99 for dinner) or have the full meat selection along with the salad bar ($26.99 for lunch, $36.99 for dinner). We chose the full selection at dinner and it was well worth it. After your meal is over, you get to pick (if you have any room left) from their selection of desserts. A desert comes with your meal.

This is a restaurant I would recommend, but make sure you that you arrive hungry! With all of the food at the salad bar, then the ‘gauchos’ coming by your table every few minutes you will certainly leave stuffed.

Henderson and the Valley

Most who visit Las Vegas just see the lights of the city. Las Vegas and neighboring Henderson are part of a desert valley. While the area is very developed with the 600 square mile basin now home to more than 2 million, it is a very arid desert.

This is a look around part of Henderson and down into the valley where the skyline of Las Vegas can be seen.

Dinos in Henderson

I am trying something a little different and have created a short video. I hope to make a few more of these on my travels. This one shows a home in a Henderson, NV neighborhood that has various dinosaur figures on the front yard and roof. Not something you see every day.
