Music from WWII – “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition”

(See my other Music and WWII related posts) – The song “Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition” was written by Frank Loesser and was first published as sheet music in 1942. The song was written in response to the attack on Perl Harbor.

The song turned out to be very popular making Variety’s best seller list for three months and over 450,000 copies were sold in a two month period. This version performed by Kay Kyser hit number one on the Billboard chart in 1943.
