macOS New App Release – Photonium

photonium-media-browser

Product Announcement – Minder Softworks of Columbus, Ohio has released Photonium, a new minimalist web browser with Photos.app integration, for macOS. Photonium was designed to solve a simple problem that many users have: getting photos out of Apple’s Photos.app an on to popular websites. While Photos.app has built-in sharing for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, there are many other websites that are not supported.

Traditionally, users who have their photos organized in Photos.app are unable to drag from Photos.app directly into their web browser to upload images. Instead, they are forced to save images from Photos.app to their desktop or other folder, switch applications to their browser, then upload their files. This then leaves the extra image files on their desktop or in another folder, which must then be deleted.

Photonium vastly simplifies this process by combining a minimalist web browser with a Photos.app library browser. Users simply click a button in Photonium’s window title bar to reveal the images and movies that are saved in Photos.app. They can view by album and adjust the size of the thumbnail. Once the desired image is located, the user can simply drag and drop it into any website that supports drag-and-drop image uploading. This includes Craigslist, WordPress sites, ebay, Amazon Prints, Etsy, and thousands more.

The user can stay in Photonium to find and upload the files, and there are never any files to clean up after uploading. What’s more, Photonium can run in full-screen mode and the user does not have to adjust the window size to be able to see files that are on their desktop or in a Finder window in order to upload them. In addition to Photos.app integration, Photonium has a favorites pop-over in the window title bar that displays six of the user’s favorite websites. These sites can be edited in Photonium’s preferences.

Photonium’s simplified web browser has the basic features users have come to expect from their web browsers. It has tabbed browsing, bookmarks, bookmark groups, global and per-tab history, download manager, pop-up blocking, private browing, and more. Photonium is immediately available on the Mac App Store for $3.99 (USD).
