Changing Your Verbs, Increasing Your Impact

I came across the article “Use This Mini Thesaurus Of Action Verbs To Improve Your Lame Resume” yesterday. I thought it was very interesting that it suggests that we can increase the impact of what we are writing or saying by simply changing a few words.

The author the article suggests making these simple changes:

Instead of Use
talked, led, presented addressed, corresponded, persuaded, publicized, reconciled
organized, ordered, filed catalogued, executed, monitored, operated
led, handled, oversaw consolidated, appointed, delegated, established

While this article was written with resumes in mind, I think it could just as well be applied to our writing or public speaking.
