Review of “Truck Stop Earth”

Book Review – “Truck Stop Earth” eBook was published in 2016 and was written by Michael A. Armstrong. This looks like Mr. Armstrong’s first published novel.

I received an ARC of this novel through in return for a fair and honest review. I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains of Mature Language and Mature Situations. The story is set in Alaska with the primary character being James “Jimmo” Osborne.

Osborne has a history of service in US Special Operations, if you can believe him. He is also part of the ‘Resistance’ that is combatting the world wide Occupation Government controlled by the alien ‘Grays’. Osborne knows about the Grays because he has been abducted to their ‘Mother Ship’ more than a dozen times.

Osborne finds his way to Della, Alaska. He finds not only others that seem to be part of the resistance, but he also discovers a huge alien base near there. Along the way as he leads a very laid back life style, and he hooks up with a few different young ladies he meets along the way.

This was a strange story. I spent a little less than 7 hours reading this 219 page Science Fiction (or perhaps a drug induced fantasy) tale. I kept thinking there might be a big confrontation with the Grays by Osborne or the Resistance. I felt disappointed when the book ended. The story was well written, but it just meandered around and then ended. While the cover art is interesting, it didn’t really give much of a insight to the what the story would be. I give this novel a 3 out of 5.
