Book Review – “Destroyer of Worlds” eBook was published in 2015 and was written by E. C. Tubb (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_Charles_Tubb). Mr. Tubb published more than 140 novels during his life.

This book was promoted by the publisher, Endeavor Press, and I downloaded for free from Amazon. I categorize this novel as ‘PG’ because it contains scenes of Violence. The story is set in the far future. The primary character is Commander Carl Maddox who commands the exploratory spacecraft Ad Astra.

The Ad Astra encounters several strange warnings to avoid an area of space that they are approaching. They ignore the warnings and proceed, only to be caught in a bubble of space around an unusual object. Maddox and his crew struggle to free themselves.

Thankfully this was a short 4.5 hour read of only 136 pages. I like Science Fiction, but I thought this was a little odd and felt dated. The author died in 2010 and most of his publications spanned the years 1950 to his death. I suspect this was written a few decades prior to his death, though I was unable to find any evidence to support that. I did not particularly like this novel. The cover art is OK, but does not really tie well with the story. I give this novel a 2.7 (rounded up to a 3) out of 5.

My book reviews are also published on Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/31181778-john-purvis).
