Review of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”

My wife and I went to see “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” yesterday morning. I liked the movie. It is different from the others in the Star Wars Universe. It is more of an adult level story, and darker than the others.

I’m not going to give any spoilers. The main character is Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones). When she is young, the Empire takes her parents away. She hides and grows up to be a strong willed and rebelious young woman.

She is recruited by the Rebel Alliance to make contact with someone working for the Empire. The Rebel leaders are trying to confirm that the Empire is building a new weapon.

This movie basically explains how the Rebels get the plans to the Death Star, and why they are able to destroy it as depicted in Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope. In my mind this movie becomes Episode III.V, fitting perfectly between Episodes III and IV.

Overall I think that this is a good movie. IMDB shows a 8.7/10 for it which is very good. If you like Star Wars you will enjoy it. But be prepared as it is not a feel good movie.
