The basic plot is that you Mae Holland (played by Emma Watson) is a new employee of The Circle. The Circle is a Google like Tech company in Silicon Valley. For employees it is the best job of their lives.
The company and its charismatic leader, Eamon Bailey (played by Tom Hanks), push that transparency of data is all important. The all-seeing, all-watching company is gathering tremendous amounts of data. Does it have a noble purpose, or is it a subtle plot to create a surveillance state?
Given all of the concern being voiced about privacy today, this is certainly a timely look at the potential misuse of Big Data. So many Tech companies are assimilating huge data stores as we opt-in to the free services they offer. The movie seems to have some real possibilities and has a solid cast. I look forward to learning more about it.
