Book Review – “Saints Blood” eBook was published in 2016 and was written by Sebastien de Castell (http://decastell.com). Mr. Castell has published four novels. This book is the third in his “The Greatcoat” series.

I received a galley of this novel for review through https://www.netgalley.com. I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence and Mature Language. The story is set in a mythical land. The main character, Falcio val Mond, is First Cantor of the King’s Greatcoats (head of the Kings Justice force).

Mond and his close friends and colleagues must battle to protect Aline, the heir to the throne. At the same time Saints start to die, and a segment of the church is organizing to replace the Greatcoats and establish themselves as the one and only religion.

I enjoyed the 10+ hours I spent reading this 592 page Fantasy. There was some magic and a lot of sword play in the story. While I had not read the previous two volumes of the series, this volume read pretty well on its own. I liked the artwork for the novel cover. I give this novel a 4 out of 5.

My book reviews are also published on Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/31181778-john-purvis).
