“The Oligarch’s Daughter” eBook was published in 2016 and was written by Eric Van Lustbader (http://www.ericvanlustbader.com/thriller/content/index.asp). Mr. Lustbader has authored 45 books. This is a short story in his “Nicholas Linnear” series.

I received a galley of this short story for review through https://www.netgalley.com. I categorize this short story as ‘PG’ because it contains scenes of Violence. This story is set in Tokyo. The main character is martial arts expert and millionaire Nicholas Linnear.

In order to move his struggling shipping business forward, Linnear must make a deal with Russian Vladmir Orkin. He must use his skills to exact revenge on an enemy of Orkin’s. In return, not only will Linnear get the deal he wants, but he will finally know the story of his family.

This was a quick 1 hour read of only 42 pages. I have read many of the Linnear stories and have liked them. This one has potential, but I felt this story could have been stretched into a longer, more enjoyable read. I also found the ending a little confusing. I give this short story a 3.4 (rounded down to a 3) out of 5.

My book reviews are also published on Goodreads (https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/31181778-john-purvis).
